Why we donate to charity? With the myriad of crises and challenges the world is facing, underprivileged and deprived communities are often forgotten, yet they also need our utmost attention. Even with rapid urbanization, there are communities out there that experience dire conditions. For that reason, charities still remain relevant in societies to help humanity.

Donating does not only benefit other people, it can also benefit yourself. Donating or giving back to society has a massively rewarding spiritual effect. No wonder they say it is giving that we receive.

If we intend to serve the greater good, we need to take action in charitable movements.

Here are 6 significant reasons why it is important to donate.

A SOLUTION TO POVERTY

The statistics of people living in poverty can be greatly overwhelming. In many parts of the world, children are starving, many of them cannot even go to school, and families are homeless. Poverty is caused by many factors including war and conflict, calamities, and even inequitable distribution of wealth. There is so much to do. Thankfully, charities help in addressing the problem.

There are hundreds of organizations that aim to alleviate poverty. Find one that you feel deeply about, get to know about it a little better to determine its trustworthiness and credibility. Donating is not only for the super-rich, even small donations can create an impact. For as long as we are blessed, let us strive to share whatever we can or have with them.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Even when we are born privileged to have educational support, and enough food on our table, life does not always go the way we want it to be. But more so for underprivileged communities who are at a disadvantage. They lack access to education, health, and safety, decent living of which they also have a right to. Charities with humanitarian causes help in trying to strike a balance so underprivileged communities will have access to human basic needs. Charities help break barriers because they also open opportunities to individuals to reach their full potential.

BE IN THE KNOW

When choosing which cause you to want to get involved in, you are most likely to read up a lot about different organizations and charities that foster different causes. At this time you will be more educated about different social injustices happening around the world. Moreover, you will be able to realize new perspectives and opinions about certain topics that you normally do not research. With a fresh vision of the world, you develop empathy for people and the underprivileged communities in particular. Your newfound understanding realigns you to your purpose.

GETS YOU IN TUNE WITH YOUR PERSONAL VALUES

When we choose to get involved with any acts of kindness that resonate with us, we are giving ourselves an opportunity to refuel our passion. Whatever type of charity we choose to support, we feel a moral obligation that is deeply rooted in our personal values and principles. Getting involved can mean meeting like-minded people and sharing stories of inspiration.

When we feel a sense of responsibility to improve the lives of others or make good of our environment, we reinforce a feeling of fulfillment aligned with our ethical beliefs and purpose.

BOOST YOUR MOOD

The happiness that derives from giving helps you to become mentally and physically stable, leaving you more aware of a purpose in life. Giving back to society can significantly improve your own well-being. Studies show that spending money on others makes us happier than spending money on ourselves. There is even a study that shows that greater well-being is a catalyst to becoming financially balanced.

The benefits of having a happier outlook in life can also be traced to both brain and body activity. Researchers have found out that an act of altruism can help lower blood pressure, lower stress levels, lower anxiety, and increase self-esteem.

A HOPE FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

Everyone dreams to live in a better world. Charities addressing different causes help in realizing that there is a better tomorrow, providing hope as they extend assistance and help.

We too, no matter our differences and socioeconomic status, can be an ambassador for this change. Selfless acts of giving are a step closer to creating the world we want to live in. We give because we love, and we act in the hopes that the world will be a better
